In a country where marriage is sacrosanct, KANK is here to break all myths. Set in New York, the movie preaches about finding true love, even if it means looking beyond your spouse. It overlooks family ties and values, thus making it simpler for Dev Saran (SRK) to abandon his son Arjun and mother (Kirron Kher) and wife in his quest for true love (Rani).
Apart from Kajol, Arjun Rampal and John in special appearances are a visual treat. Mr Sexy Sam (Amitabh Bachchan) is trying his best to step into the shoes of Hugh Hefner. Kirron Kher has nothing to offer apart from her solidarity to her daughter-in-law (Preity). Rishi (Abhishek) is married to Maya (Rani) and believes he is truly in love with her. But she doesn't believe in junior AB’s way of life and drifts towards Dev who is going through an emotional upheaval with a very ambitious wife and after losing a leg in an accident. Now, all that Dev can do is to teach soccer.
Life seems difficult for both, Dev and Maya, who find it difficult to connect with their respective spouses in spite of forceful attempts at making things better.
The premise of the movie is that two individuals going through a similar emotional disturbance or confusion will connect with each other when they come together. And that's what happens, the trust and the sanctity of marriage is overridden by a personal quest to find love even after being with individuals who truly love them.
The way Karan Johar's beliefs and values have changed, it won't be long enough before he directs a movie on homosexual relationship causing heartburn.
The music of this movie is mediocre with Mitwa being a little catchy. Overall the movie is a three-hour melodrama, depicting a totally warped concept of love. Stay away if you don't want to make a mess of your life.
